electric_blue68's JournalSo busy yesterday I forgot to thank those who sent me hearts. I enjoyed sending mine out, too.
*Thank you* for more hearts.
Good morning. TY for my heart. 🙂
So How Did You Hear about Jan 6 if you were at an office job, working from home, retired (@ home)?..
Did you happen to be in DU as news was reported. Or did someone text, or phone you?
My getting up routine included/es since I got a smartphone (vs replacing a basic cellphone) for Covid shutdown March 2020, but no TV (need to get one again at some point) was/is checking e-mail, going on FB for family, friends, and interest groups.
In between those two I usually check DU.
I might have gone to sleep extremely late like 4AM+ (now, I have been a night owl but even that is extremely late for me) bc I didn't wake up till till after 2PM.
I hadn't turned my radio before I got on DU which by like 2:15P they'd already fought the Capital Police, breeched the barricades, and were inside! I was like WTF?! Obviously (luckily) missing drumphf's exhortations, while at the same time the insurrectionists had already gotten past the police.
So I woke up close to the middle of it.
Instant Sense of Surealness as I now watched!
But a bunch of you might have had a TV, or radio as part of your routine. Others might have been checking in in general on DU.
Did you watch as news reports broke in - if earlier with an increasing sense of incredulity, surrealness as they attacked the barricades/police? Climb the 'effing walls? Infuriation, etc?
Even having seen some of it Live - the earlier parts I caught later; but damn if it still feels "unreal" at times. Which makes sense in a way.
Made my phone Call to Sen Schumer's DC Office to...
ask him to when going on radio, TV talk shows, or holding a Press Conference with other top Senators - that while he's not a Representative what's going n in The House could eventually effect bc of the debt ceilingng; they'd be threatened cuts to Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, Food Stamps etc. People rely on all these, Dems need to be sounding the alarm more!
Go Dems!
Here's Sen Schumer's

I hope the J6 Committee, their Staff, all their Families, and Good Friends will Sleep Deeply....
Tonight. You all deserve it!
Families, and good friends, too, all feel emotional, and perhaps physical effects of being the active participants, or very close to those involved in such a momentous, and meticulous endeavor.
Just opened an account on postimage (after going to community help)Put up...
.. a test photo (screengrab of a wip Digi art).
But the choices for sharing only has
FB, Reddit, Twitter, VK, and E-mail...
How do I get it to post here in DU (once I've made mt post in the proper or new thread?
(Do I have to go premium which I'm guessing costs something.)
NO Rush 👍
TY
What was the first political event (not protest) that you attended involving The Democratic Party...
(just got a "ding, ding" after reading the parties parents threw thread where they sent you to bed. I think the comment about "smoking parties" triggered it)
My uncle living in NYC (vs those in NJ) took me to a indoors event when I was ?15. It was possibly the
Progressives for Humphrey event. I was volunteer campagning for him in the daytime.
It was good but it was so smoke filled I got pretty queasy, and headachy so that blurred out the details.
My best campaign moment from then was riding around on a flatbed truck that was festooned with HHH posters, red, white & blue bunting, balloons and a small band! 😄 We had baskets of flyers, and buttons to give out.
We went from around 50th St down 5th Ave all the way to Herald Sq where we got off in front of Macy's - 34th St entrance and handed out more.
It was luckily a warm & sunny day. 👍
