NRA is busy making calls today [View all]
My husband became a lifetime member decades ago, and got a call from the NRA just now, and we both picked up from different rooms. They warned him that "our enemies" are coming after our second amendment rights and the "fake news media" is spreading lies about "us". Repeat that a few different ways, be afraid, very afraid, and then ask for money. We can bump your membership up for $200, etc. "Let's get you signed up".
Silence. My husband had hung up during the first sentence. I listened to the whole hateful, fear-mongering thing. Then I let him know the NRA member had left the call, I wasn't a member, and I asked if the children in Florida who are asking for any small action on gun control are the enemies. Also said something about fundraising on what happened there - not sure what I said exactly - I was so mad by that time. But there was just silence. I think he hung up. I hope they hear a lot of the same today. Maybe they should be afraid.
