(10,252 posts)I'm a Buddhist, and I see the world from that view point. The main problem that keeps people trapped in endless suffering is mental ignorance -- delusion and confusion. The 3 mental poisons are ignorance, greed, and hatred. They are the impetus that drives people to make bad decisions and do harmful acts. The super rich are mainly greedy. No matter how much they have, it's never enough. They manipulate the working and middle classes with fear, anger, and hatred. Even the Christian Church is busy preaching prosperity and punishment. Compassion to work for the benefit and well being of others seems to have gone out of fashion, when the Ayn Randers started preaching the virtue of selfishness.
I'm 72, so I am not long for this world. I am encouraged by today's young people, who seem to not fall for the Ayn Randers vision of utopia. I hope the democratic socialist young people completely take over the Dem party.
