He was a "success" despite horrible early childhood difficulties. He made a good living - married - stayed with his wife.
Basically everything his parents were unable to do. Fox likes to punch down and propagandizes about lazy people who want to ride free on the efforts and achievements of others. He wants to associate himself with productive people (the "real" Americans...etc... who
hold everything together. It's a kind of self-virtue signalling. His self esteem is tied up in it.
