6. Trump has made or fate so much worse. But this is overdue and the pandemic is no ones fault.

Our parents were lucky to never have one. Depending on your age your grandparents as well.

We are the unlucky generation. No matter what thousands were going to die. With a real leader our losses would be way less.

But we as a people will make it thru. We always do. Unfortunately some of us won’t.

After my wife and I read The Great Influenza a decade or so ago I remember telling her I hope it does not happen in our lifetimes. Because that book made it obvious we are not even close to eliminating pandemics. Looks like we drew the short straw.

And in the big picture my grandparents and every generation before always knew multiple people who died young from viral or bacterial sickness. We see it as un-natural which is a sign of progress. After the 1918 pandemic there was huge support for increased research into disease which led to the discovery of viruses and eventually the discovery of DNA. If it gets as bad as I fear no politician will ever survive by being against investment in public health and strengthening our healthcare system.

We will be fine.

Obviously, I am an optimist!
