(2,044 posts)Or still. The protestors this past weekend, the people who voted the Mango Menace into office in 2016, the Tea Party members who raised a stink during the Obama years, basically, all angry white people from the past 40 years or more do not have a clue that they are angry at the wrong people and at the wrong things. They do not have an analytical bone in their body, nor do they deal well with abstractions. But they are angry as hell and are determined to find a target for their anger. This past week, that target was Democratic governors who shut down their states in order to keep people from contracting a horrible disease and dying.
Their target should have been Trump. They should have been staging their protests at the White House and Trump Tower and Mar-a-Lago. But they are not interested in finding out to what extent this cult leader of theirs is to blame for the whole country shutting down and for the over 40,000 Americans who have lost their lives. That would require at least a soupçon of intelligence, a wisp of intellectual curiosity, an inkling of a desire to understand a problem before lashing out. They don't possess any of those.
And their target should be all Republican politicians who still support Orange Julius Caesar, and the corporate oligarchy that controls our country, and Citizens United, and the toxic waste coming from conservative talk radio and Fox News, and corporate lobbyists, and superpacs, and unlimited spending on political campaign ads, and social media, and greed, and corruption, and . . .
But these real culprits are too abstract and too many and too complicated, so the Trump humpers pick a nice, easyand handy!individual to target: the governor of their own state. Unbelievable. And it will not be long before we start getting reports of these protestors dying from coronavirus. And the rest of them still will not grasp that they are blaming all the wrong people for what's wrong with the country.
