(28,789 posts)Honestly I am more afraid of the virus than I am of dying. I have watched a bunch of youtube videos of people sharing their experience with it, plus one of my co-workers got it. It's not like any other flu. Some of the people did have very mild cases, but others barely survived, and most of them were sick for weeks. Like the worst sick they'd ever experienced.
There are masks that will also protect you. If you do return to work, make sure you have that kind of mask. If you can stand it you can also wear more than one mask. Also wear glasses or goggles because the virus can enter through your eyes. Your employer should have processes in place to keep you well distanced from your guests.
You seem to be leaning toward waiting it out. I don't blame your son for not wanting you to return to work in that environment. My oldest son actually told me to make my middle son, who lives with me, move out because he works in a grocery store. He's afraid for me and I bet your son feels the same about you.
