Twitter down, suffers worldwide outage
The social networking website Twitter went down on Thursday in what appeared to be a global outage, users said. The cause of the outage was not immediately known.
The outage began at around 5:40 p.m. ET on Thursday when users were unable to send any new tweets. The website initially remained accessible, but began showing an error message a short time later.
“Error. Something went wrong, but don’t fret – it’s not your fault,” the message said.
The cause of the outage was not immediately known. A website created by Twitter to provide updates during outage has not been updated, saying simply: “All Systems Operational.”
There was no immediate comment from Twitter.
