I take your point, but at the same time most of us have in fact taken this seriously.
Our failing on this is having indulged the republican party and "conservative movement" for many decades now.
1/3 of inject their bullshit in their veins like heroin, 1/3 of us have tried our best to fight it while 1/3 of us are in self righteous "THEY BOTH ARE THE SAME" high.
That is our country, it was LONG before Covid came to our shores. Not you and I, but "we" elected a complete sociopath president, "we" elected all these insane congressmen, senators, governors, state elected officials, "we" gave them the power to put total pychophants into positions of power overseeing our response to the pandemic, etc.
