We use two different types. Some are trained for finding live victims and the others for deceased. Cross trained dogs are more common in wilderness rescue but for some reason they keep them separate in our type of work these days.
We used to do the hiding for reward a lot on training and some deployments. Of course that only works on the "live" dogs. I didn't really see that happening on this deployment so I am not sure if they still do it.
