9. Manchin has us stuck in a Catch-22.

We need to add two more senators in 2022, but if Manchin refuses to vote for the Freedom to Vote Act, Republicans are most likely to use their new laws to throw out enough votes for them to win. Georgia is already working on Fulton County to unseat Warnock.

I don’t get Manchin, either. He is already 74 and will not be up for reelection until 2024. Does he need another term so badly, which he is unlikely to win if he rejects the infrastructure bills that will help his state? He barely won reelection last time in a state that has been going further and further to the right. There is nothing in any of these bills that will hurt his voters. There is much that will help them. My only guess for his opposition to the $3.5 trillion bill is that he doesn’t want to raise taxes on rich people needed to pay for it.
