(58,785 posts)45. We always vote. What scared me is that NY (blue state!) voters,
not quite 3 weeks ago, soundly rejected constitutional amendments that would have allowed for same-day voter registration and universal absentee voting so legislators can move to further expand ballot access .
How could that happen? Now?!
That was even worse than the fright of seeing possible signs of extremism within our house caucus threaten passage of truly historic progressive legislation.
I'm mostly optimistic and do believe in the good sense, and self protective instincts, of the majority, but these days I feel a bit like we're in Steven King's 11/22/63 and very strange happenings are first signs that disruptions of time are destroying the world.

This. +1 VA was not a bellweather IMHO...just a badly run campaign by a weaker Dem candidate.

Disagree. The disarray was real. Not even able to pass bills in the Dem House looked terrible.
