put it around the edges of the signs where someone is likely to grab them. It's a pine-tar compound that gets all over your hands and will not come out of clothing. You may lose one more sign, but the vandalism will stop pretty quickly. It worked wonders for a friend who was losing kitschy lawn ornaments to local teens (plastic pink flamingoes), and others have used it with great success on their political signs.
