(3,617 posts)In fact, I dislike him immensely. I think he cheats on taxes and he cheats on the stock market (with his tweets about Tesla). One person should not be able to have that kind of effect on the Stock Market (which he used Twitter to employ is questionable tactics).
However, the way I approach things is always try to view topics from both sides.
So lets say someone like Rob Reiner bought Twitter. Would we all be saying the same things?
I just like to be balanced about things. I am not pushing to stay on twitter, or to leave it. Personally, I deleted my Spotify account when the situation with Neil Young leaving came up. That was my decision and I'm sticking with it. But I am not trying to convince everyone I know to leave it. This is kind of an individual decision.
Saying that you support fascism, bigotry and racism if you don't delete your account is just over-the-top in my opinion. Many people have many good uses for Twitter that has nothing to do with US politics. In fact, I think Twitter has been a very good thing for helping fight against Russian propaganda and the Ukraine situation. Good Grief.
What I find interesting is that there is no further comment about the Media using Twitter for its Content. I would much much rather see investigative reporting that what some fool says on twitter, but I have had this beef about Twitter for a long time. That is what my post was about. It was not about supporting Musk, at all. Yet I get called a fascist, a bigot, and a racist? Come on people, we are better than that. Can't we do Critical Thinking here any more?
Leave Twitter, stay on Twitter, I personally don't care. I still would like for our news media to get back to real journalism instead of gossip, which is basically what Twitter is used for.
So, no, I'm not going to delete my Twitter account just because Musk /bought/ it, but (and this is a big BUT) I /will/ be watching what he does. And even though I never actually use twitter (other than to be able to read links used in places like DU), /IF/ he reinstates Trump, or implements policies that I see as destructive, /I will delete it then/ I've always thought Twitter is kind of ridiculous and not really a good thing for our society, but I have seen lately that if you are not logged into your Twitter account, you can not read Twitter posts. I think this is a recent change in their policy (and I really don't like this either). I may quit Twitter over that policy alone.
In the end, the entire world would be better off if we all could just IGNORE TRUMP. I think that would hurt him more than anything.
