15. When I moved to where I used to live in Ohio...I found out there was no school bussing.

Well, we were about a mile from school...with some sidewalks...the kids could have walked but I know they wouldn't have. The reason for the lack of bussing was that the budget was cut because the assessment was not approved. The second-year we lived there in the fall...parents got out and voted. There was a large senior population who didn't want to pass it (wrong-headed in my view schools keep the property values up-not to mention educating the next generation) so we were on pins and needles... they had to go to the provisional ballots before we knew who won...well the assessment passed by three votes. There were three votes in my house and the weather was bad, we almost didn't vote. Thank God we did.

After that, as time went on older folks sold their houses to younger folks and eventually, they built a beautiful school which really helped my property values in Cortland Ohio...My house sold for the most money ever in my neighborhood...now it is more I am sure. But voting always matters, you never know.
