3. TV celebrities have started to view high elected office as just another celebrity box to tick.

One more way of getting attention for their "brand". There really is no desire to perform public service, otherwise, we'd see them roll up their sleeves and dive in to elected offices that are a lot of work, but don't furnish "brand recognition"; school boards, city councils, boards of supervisors, etc. They just want their money-making mugs on TV.

Why Oz is still at it when reality-TV Trump turned out to be such an unholy disaster is beyond me.
