Not only that, members of The Squad will never vote for a Republican.

It's far more likely 10 or fewer Repubs join Dems to elect Jeffries knowing that Repubs still have the votes to pass or kill any legislation brought to the floor. It is far less likely 212 Dems vote for a Repub speaker when Dems receive absolutely nothing in the return. At least with Jeffries as Speaker, they could determine what legislation is up to a vote even if they do not control the outcome.

As stated above, I think this only has a 25% chance of happening meaning that Repubs are still the overwhelming favorite to hold the Speaker position. It is unlikely Jeffries is selected but it is not certainly not impossible.
