In reply to the discussion: I smell a big fat KGB rat in all this. [View all]lonely bird

Authoritarianism is, imo, complementary to conservatism. It is static in nature meaning that while some internal shifting of policies/belief structures occurs the basic foundation is control and maintaining power. Money often ends up as a means of keeping score.
This also goes to the whole communism bleating by the RW. There has never been a communist state in history. The end game of communism is, iirc, the withering away of the state. Every so-called communist state is simply an authoritarian state. Imo, the left/right labels dont even fit in the case of authoritarian states. They may start spouting leftist or rightist agitprop but the end result is the same.

If the Devil changed his name from Lucifer to Bob, does that mean the devil no longer exists?

It's very simplistic. Just try calling it for what it is not what you think it is.

Highlighting just because the KGB does not exist in name does not mean it ceases to exist in spirit.

Like "Elvis isn't dead. He just went home." (Men in Black), the KGB simply changed their name.

Nope. The FSB (former KGB) is internal (kinda like FBI) and GRU is international military intel.

Please link the timeline. While they now exist simultaneously, the KGB were prior to the GRU.

I love the deflection going on here. "The gun that killed 12 people wasn't really an assault weapon"

I've seriously been wondering how much right wing propaganda has originated from Russia.
