(26,787 posts)driving distance of a major university and a small town that excels in restaurants and excellent live music. I am in a purple state where in some areas people are rabidly Trumpist. But our town is amazingly diverse because of a university and a refugee resettlement program that has been here since the 70s. We can still beat it, and I believe the odds are on our side in the long run. But wherever you go, it will affect you. I understand the shame you feel, and I feel it too because I think it is shameful what the right wing is saying and doing to this country. But I want to do what I can to fight it. Here.
