One of the things the professor ("Bill is my name, professor is my job, so please call me Bill, and not Professor" ) made clear that high inflation is bad, but none is also bad. 2% was not only manageable, but desirable. I forgot the details, but they made sense at the time. Greed never figured into it. Greed is an emotion (emotional disorder, if you like), economics is a dispassionate science.
