(2,547 posts)With over 400 million out there even if we had the house, the Executive and enough in the Senate to kill the filibuster I don't see anyway we could keep those if the fed started confiscating the assault weapons. Like I said I believe its too late. there are far too many. I believe our only choice is to at least get a majority in all 3 branches, sell jt in a way what few sane Senate repukes left could save face on. I think its a choice most Americans would go for, treating weapons like cars. Its one of the reasons we started regulating cars in the early 20th century. People were being killed in hit and runs for example in larger and larger overall numbers and the public demanded a solution. The sad fact is weapons aren't going away so we need to try and regulate some sanity into their possession and use. We already do it for lots of things.
