The corruption was just matter of fact. Trump was basically like, "Yeah, I'm the president, the DOJ investigation is under my control." Trump was basically trying to buy Cohen's criminality with the promise he's safe because Trump is the president.

Not surprising, but this is a level of corruption that is new to the US.
