What in the name of all that is right and holy does "some on DU had very bad upbringings" mean? How would the upbringing of anyone on this site affect, as we so fondly refer to him, Kyle?

As for the rest of what you say: The claim is that the sister, anyway, has medical issues that prevent her from getting a job. You, apparently, are privy to contrary information, since you state as a fact that "His mother and sister can get jobs."

And, really? $3K is no big? Have you ever read about the ability of Americans to cover a sudden $1,000 expense? "Dude! Anyone can go get a minimum wage job and put away $3K, like, probably, in a couple of weeks.
