5. Arizona law requires that the vacant seat be filled by

a member of the same party as the Senator who is vacating the seat. They put that into law right before McCain died, to ensure it stayed in Republican hands at the time. And, as has already been mentioned, they have a Democratic Governor. I am all for Kelly getting the VP nomination, if that is what Kamala decides is best for her.
