You know what's even weirder about JD's childless argument? [View all]
Is the way he seems to define family as only your offspring.
Does anybody else define family that way?
You are not invested in the wellbeing of your siblings, cousins, parents, grandparents, nieces, nephews, aunties, uncles?
Like many other Americans - I'm at the point of having to worry about my parents who are getting older and I'm also the caregiver for my adult son who has been struggling in recent years. I want my parents to be able to get the healthcare they need. Or maybe JD, thinks I shouldn't worry about " old folks"?
I have two young nieces. The youngest is almost 2 years old. I worry about their future. The environment, their right to have control over their bodies. The oldest has asthma, so yes I am very concerned about the environment in general, but I know how it affects her asthma. My uncle died from a severe asthma attack. I want her to live her best life and not worry that will be her fate.
When the oldest got her period, the first thing I thought about was, what would we do if she was raped. We live in GA. We've already had the discussion about having to go to NY if something devastating like that happened.
My sister had a difficult time during her last pregnancy. She had Hyperemesis gravidarum and had to stop working during the pregnancy. We made several trips to the ER due to dehydration. Everytime I got a call that she had to go to the ER, my heart sank thinking about what could go wrong and the care she could not get in GA.
I have young cousins who are in college, I worry about the debt they will be saddled with. I could go on and on.
This idea that family is about your offspring is well, weird.
