(1,824 posts)44. Yeah but she won't.
In 2007, Obama was speaking to crowds of 30,000 people - and filling football stadiums (he had a massive crowd in South Carolina in 2007 at William-Brice Stadium).
She's doing good. But the buzz is not 2008 levels and we really need to put the brakes on things because this election isn't going to be as easy as 2008 was vs John McCain and Sarah Palin. That election was effectively over by mid-September.

OP
She's more comparable to Obama's 2012 levels. But she's still not there yet.

No. I was a 10 & 11 year old living in London when Obama launched his campaign and then surged to a win in the primary.

Very different circumstances. Obama had months to gin up those kinds of crowds.

She's not doing outdoor rallies due to security. Plus she has been the nominee for less than a month

I don't think any Democratic candidate could get the same 2008 win that Obama.

I see, I just don't understand why a DU OP would attempt to squash the excitement of the Harris campaign like that.

It does seem weird, I don't understand why it would cross anyone's mind...

The original OP seems to be comparing the first 2 weeks of Harris' campaign to....

I don't think your post is concerned with the peak of Obama's primary campaign...

I see, your post is comparing the strength of Obama's win to the first 2 weeks of Harris' campaign. Thanks.

I would be shocked if Harris won nearly as many electoral votes as Obama did in 2008.

I'm thrilled but I also know this is a very divisive electorate. 2008 wasn't nearly as divisive, unfortunately.

True, but I don't think Obama could win that many electoral votes today

You have blue cities LIKE LA or Chicago. Harris is breaking records in purple and red cities: this is beyond Obama 2008

2008 Obama had more than a year to get to that level.2012 Obama had 4 years to get to that level

I'm thinking the turnout can be at Obama levels later on, Obama had 6 months of campaigning and great speeches

Obama had a mountain of mess to clean up: Iraq, housing crisis, banking crisis, auto industry

LOL! What a dopey argument this thread has become. "Is the enthusiasm like 2008 or 2012??!1!?"
