4. Republicans have never been quiet about their desire to eliminate the Department of Education

Not much of a "gotcha" for Trump to support something that has long been on the repubs wish list. Thomas Massie introduced a bill to terminate the Department back in 2017.

The Chronicle of Higher Education published an article about republicans efforts to kill the Department of Education in 2018, wherein they discussed Reagan's desire to shut it down.
