15. In times of calamity, we always see a rush to condemn the victims

They’re accused of foolishness or self-indulgence for daring to bleed when they’ve been stabbed, ridiculed when they pause for breath to ask “what just happened?”

I see no value in such scolding, other than the false thrill of righteous superiority that it grants to the scold.
