I think that like last time, though probably to a lesser degree, the country will go back on auto-pilot until the 2029 inauguration. Maybe even Jan. 3, 2027 if the next DNC chair turns out to be another Howard Dean.

(Full disclosure: Howard is a friend, and no, he’s not interested). Howard just turned 76, and already saved our collective ass with the elections of 2006 and 2008. He can’t yet say who he would favor as DNC chair yet, and he probably wouldn’t go on the record about it if he did. He is a pro, and has the Party’s interests st heart. He WILL offer the incoming chairperson any advice they might request of him, and if they have any sense at all, they will—frequently.
