A family of American tourists on the balcony of their cruise ship were shot to death when machine gun fire erupted from the adjacent jungle as the cruise ship transited the canal.

Panamanians revolted today when they used high explosives to blow the Gaton Lake gates, bringing canal operations to a stop for months to come while repairs are made.
