27. Compensation for wrongful conviction

Some states have a law that award compensation for those who are adjudicated to be wrongfully convicted. In Texas it's about 80k a year. Check out the story ofwrongfullly convicted Michael Morton, who served over 20 years in prison before he was fully exonerated. Major key items of evidence were found to have not been turned over to the defense during the underlying trial. Morton's case changed the way the criminal defense system does business in Texas. Morton left prison a fairly wealthy man.
