128. I bailed on my family decades ago...

Left Iowa in about 1990, back when Rush Limbaugh became a thing and Iowa started getting stupid, and what glimpses I’ve had of my remaining siblings and their kids leads me to believe they all became MAGAt fools, so no great loss there.

Just learned my younger brother just died (Sunday?) from our great family tradition of alcoholism (Scots…), and can’t find it in me to even feel sad about it.

Sadly, my daughter is in NC and having a tough time of it—safe but struggling after leaving an abusive spouse—so it’s just me and my grown son down in Sarasota. Low-key vegan dinner today—er… tonight because we didn’t even start cooking until almost 9 pm—but politics-free. Very, VERY happy not to have close family with right-wing tendencies to cast a pall on this day or any other. Note the ones who are basically okay are also heavily Catholic, which is equally bothersome, heathens that we are.
