William Rehnquist, the 16th Chief Justice of the United States, as a young magat, cut his Republican chops by showing up with goons at polling places used by native peoples. Their mere presence dissuaded many tribal peoples from voting. His actions gained him the notoriety to climb to the highest office in the land.
