Course correction that is not forced upon him is off the table.
Left to his own devices, he is hellbent on the "Whatever it takes" path to hold power.
And we MUST find effective ways to Defend Ourselves and Defend Our Elections.
As Simon Rosenberg noted at the end of February:
In my talk this week I argued that Trumps decision to double down on his failed and unpopular governing strategy (tariffs, ICE terror/mass deportations, cuts to health care/food assistance, etc) and not course correct meant that he had decided to pursue an illicit path to keep himself and Republicans in power, something I am calling the whatever it takes path. In a democracy when a leader is unpopular, and their policies arent working, they course correct and do things are that popular and good for people. Trump looked at that option, and chose another - the go-to-war/billions of dollars of corruptly & oligarch funded mid-term SuperPACs/mafia-like media and tech takeover/unending AI slop/unprecedented foreign active measures on his behalf/end free and fair elections/the whatever it takes path.
We cannot allow ourselves to be overwhelmed and immobilized by the "whatever it takes" onslaught they are putting in motion (the go-to-war/billions of dollars of corruptly & oligarch funded mid-term SuperPACs/mafia-like media and tech takeover/unending AI slop/unprecedented foreign active measures on his behalf/end free and fair elections/).
We can, and MUST act to defend ourselves.
It may not sound like much, but pouring whatever dollars you can into strengthening State Democratic Parties is a CRITICAL starting place. Every dollar given now can be put to work NOW -- and that's worth a hell of a lot more than dollars given to campaigns months from now.
Support Marc Elias's efforts. They have been in high gear, but for the onslaught that is coming, it's time to go all out.
Post additional ways to counter-attack.
