Harrisburg is a GOP run operation. R gov, R senate and house.
There is as much of a chance of Corbett being investigated as there was of the Bush admin being held accountable for Iraq.
None.
We did get a D AG in this election, but she has a lot more to do than just try to deal with him. She was an assistant country District Attorney and is a completely new face. She has to figure out her job and deal with all her other responsibilities. To whatever extent she might want to deal with Corbett, she will face complete obstruction by his administration and the Rs in the senate and house.
Now, he absolutely slow played the investigation into Sandusky for his political purposes. He knew it would blow up PSU, and it would have really hurt his chances to get the nomination in the first place. He then played it both ways and after it broke, as governor jumped all over PSU.
The only "accountablity" he faces is his reelection. We have not had a one term governor in PA in my life. But, beyond Ds hating him, he has BIG problems with republicans. PSU is a BIG part of the republican machine in this state, and from his hacking at funding, to his role as an unelected member of the BOD at the University who has wielded a lot of power in the decision making he has alienated A LOT of republicans.
The general belief of most is that he was the one who pushed for them to can Paterno. That might be the only possible thing that might get enough republicans to get past their death loyalty to the party and either vote D or not bote for him.
I have felt that the Presidential election had sucked the air out of things related to Corbett. Now that it has passed, we will see how much of a fire will get stoked against him. He will be up reelection in two years, and as this year progresses we are going to see who the real viable D candidates are. Once that starts to play out, we can get a better idea if he/she has a shot to take him down.
