(36,432 posts)I've never doubted that there's antisemitism amongst segments of the Left. I've seen it for many years and it's not.just something that magically appeared or.intensified when Israel was attacked.
The problem that a few others in this thread have is they see antisemitism everywhere, even when it's not there. It's almost like they think everyone else but them is an anti-Semite unless proven otherwise. And the proving involves not having criticised Israel too much or ever using the term Zionist and never saying that AIPAC is shit. Sorry, did I screech? I did notice that you talk a lot in yr posts about people screeching, which I find a bit weird tbh.Habr you asked them to stop.screeching at you?
I have no doubt what was reported in the OP happened. The question I've got is whats to be done about it? While it must be morally satisfying to turn on folks who dare to ask questions about an incident, what does it achieve? I'm asking as someone who managed to explain to a good friend why some of what she said about Gaza was repeating antisemitic tropes, and she understood and still criticises Israel as much as before, but more thoughtfully now. She wasn't an anti-Semite, just someone who didn't realise what she was saying until she was told.
