Thats speculation from the same people who can't tell the differrence between a 270 lb 30 year old black male and a petite 71 year old latina. I'm surprised they didn't also claim he had nuclear weapons and an Abrams tank.

While a .50 caliber gun is the legal max size, they aren't common. They're used for hunting really large game (elephants, rhinos, polar bears, and the like). It's an expensive specialized hunting weapon. A shoulder-fired missle launcher is illegal, of course. Possibly it could be bought on the black market, at great cost. I rather doubt he has one, and suspect paranoia has overcome rationality in the LAPD. The guy probably has a couple 9mm handguns, a pump shotgun, and a .30-06 rifle. No evidence of this, but just a guess as to most useful weapons for a fugitive.
