(12,618 posts)who has this rather bad habit of relapsing. When she goes through withdrawls while drying out, it's not pretty. She shakes, she cries, she hallucinates, she hears things that aren't there, she sweats, she throws up, she looks like a zombie from Dawn of the Dead. You name it, she does it.
When I or anybody else I know stops smoking pot, even if use of it has been excessive, the worst that happens is minor crankiness and maybe some trouble sleeping at first. And now they're saying that even moderate alcohol use can increase your cancer risk significantly.
Now compare the two: one drug helps fight cancer, the other causes it. One drug has mild withdrawl symptoms, the other extreme. One drug regularly causes incidents of violence and car accidents, the other, not so much. One drug has numerous environmental and industrial benefits, the other doesn't.
Leave it to America to choose the harmful drug to be legal and the other one to be a jailable offense.
