If they refuse to support it, GOP negatives will skyrocket even higher, particularly with younger voters. If they're compelled to support it come-lately, then the fundienuts could very well split and form their own fundienut party with all the requisite litmus tests. This is all payback for the GOP having built a coalition over the past 40+ years that depended on a regressive strategy of pushing "wedge" issues in order to win. This pending schism must be making Karl Rove a bit nervous these days.
