(62,325 posts)eye to the Bush gang. Comey was the man who stood up to Gonzales and Cheney airc in what was one of the more dramatic and strange episodes of the Bush era.
Manny, I hate to say it, but back then when Comey risked his career to stop Cheney and Gonzales from forcing the then AG to sign another one of their 'laws' while he was sick in the hospital, I realized that not all Bush appointees were crooked.
There is a good article from back then called 'Palace Revolt' which I think was in Rolling Stone, although I'm not sure and a lot was written later about what Comey did that night.
I don't know much about his position on other policies, but he proved during that difficult time that he did care about the rule of law. He resigned airc, after doing what to me at the time, was a very brave thing.
Iow, he proved himself to be courageous at a time when few dared, including Democrats, to stand up to the Bush war criminals.
I would like to know more about him though regarding other issues. But my memory of him then was that he WAS a man of honor when it came to doing his job of protecting the people and the Constitution.
