In fact, it is my understanding that no one should ever attempt to move an accident victim (as long as they are in no further imminent danger, such as fire ect,). One is supposed to just keep them as calm as possible and try not to let them move. Unless of course the are truly uninjured...
This would be in case there might be some type of (not obvious) spinal injury.
I had basic first aid training years ago for a job I was working, and definitely remember this rule.
On Edit: The purpose of this post was to point out further the implausibility of the "heroic" Z Man story.
Non-medical personnel are not supposed to interfere w/accident victims other than (at most) to help them stay calm and to try to keep them from moving.
Does not mean I believe the story... (just so we're clear)
