(114,904 posts)113. that's exactly how I started out
As a kid we had the most wonderful cat. His name was Ferdinand after the bull in the children's story, but we called him Fuzz. He was smart and social as all get out. We had dogs too, but none quite as wonderful as Fuzz the cat.
I got my first dog in my early twenties and from then on I was a dedicated dog person. Teladma lived until she was 14, then I got Tucker who lived until she was 19 and a few years after that I got Little-Dog who just died last month. I miss her terribly.
Time for a new pup.

Cats are independent. I would think you'd respect that. And dogs eat poop. nm
