28. No need to apologize.

I picked this user name over 15 years ago. I think I qualify as a Heretic. I am an Atheist, but I know that some of my fellow atheists and non-theists on DU can write things that are over-the-top. I learned my lesson in this regard a long time ago on DU. I also have learned that engaging in any of the all too frequent religious arguments on this board amounts to pointless exercise. I don't do it.

This article just struck me as funny and something many DU'ers might find similarly so.

Having said that, it needs to be said that insulting a religion is different than insulting an individual. Since people that share my theological and philosophical perspective make up less than 20% of the population,l I understand that if I want to get along with the other 80%, I need to be circumspect in what I say and write.

Bill Donohue is a nitwit, plain and simple.

I am quite confident that the vast majority of rational Catholics would tend to agree with that statement.
