(460 posts)Most of the listeners to right-wing talk radio are like you. Regular people who are making it in today's world. The problem is that most of us are also just like you-just one major illness or sickness away from losing everything. If the good job that we have been working at for the last 20 years would disappear, and they do, there are no employers that want an older worker who knows enough to stand up for their own rights. They want young healthy people who they can scare into working like machines.
The hosts on talk-radio would have us believe that we are the "middle-class" that all those parasites are taking advantage of. In reality, most of us receive much more from the government than our taxes pay for. The rich want to make more money, and keep it. It is to their advantage to have people like us voting the way that would let them not pay taxes, and get more of that special welfare that the rich call "business incentives". The talk-shows trick us into identifying with these rich people, and end up voting for them, instead of our own self-interest. This game has been going on for a long time. Some people are finally starting to wake up, but too many will never see the light. The elections this coming year will be very important. Be sure to vote for the people who are working for YOU, not the special interests that have bought their loyalty. Tell all of your friends and family what the deal is too. You might get thru to some of them, and we will need every vote.
