(10,559 posts)you will find we mere mortals - the ones who deal with life by having families, getting sick, and pitching in to help out whenever we can - are pretty nice.
Your story really makes me realize the absolute denial one must live in to vote Republican. You had to believe your health would always be good (regardless of genetics or other drivers or random falling objects), your skills would always be in demand, your bosses/employers would always value and appreciate you, your family members would never get old, or experience any health challenges (a child in the NICU or a parent in the hospital or a special needs child), you would never personally witness the power of Nature during hurricane, tornado, fire, mud slide or ice storm, you would be blessed with exposure only to non-contaminated foods and medications --
In short, you had to literally believe you were not going to experience any "life challenges" that would require more than you to survive.
Immortal. Omniscient. Able to avoid the occasional drunk driver and random act of workplace violence due to your own magical powers of self confidence and personal strength/belief.
I am a woman of faith. I am glad you have joined us. I hope your experiences can help you to build our communities stronger. With hubris destroyed by reality, it takes courage to do what you are doing - admit you were wrong, and try to make it better.
Thank you for sharing. I look forward to your insights in future discussions. That which does not kill us makes us stronger, and you live.
Your mission on the planet is obviously not over. Get to work making a difference.
Have you considered running for political office?
