(4,517 posts)When I got discharged from the military they started sending me checks for 0$. I finally managed to get an email response and was told they needed my DD-214. Faxed it out and they managed to fix it. Barely made it those tense four weeks, and somehow the wife managed to get a job during that time. But that was about... 5 years ago now... About 5 years before that I kept bouncing on and off the employment rolls so ended up getting a lot of experience with the EDD, decided it was easier to just take a tour in the Navy. Still not sure if that was a good idea, but it ended up working out for me. Wish I could help out more with the current system, I think I'm too far out to offer useful advice. But good luck, I'm rooting for you for what that's worth. Maybe less letters, more phone calls and emails (I always had good luck with emails to the EDD, but that was 5 years ago). I guess that's typical of CA bureaucracy, we're stripped to the bone for staffing, per capita we have the least civil service employees of any state. Then people wonder why everything takes so long to process. And yeah, the drug testing is out of control, one more way for the employer to let you know who is in charge.
