2. The Olympics are a predatory organization

Soaking taxpayers throughout the northern hemisphere to build velodromes and other one-time use multi-million dollar facilities. Just 8 years after hosting the games Sarajevo's stadium became a grave yard.

The Olympics have never been held in the southern hemisphere (aside from Sydney) and have routinely been hosted by dictators and fascists who use the games to strut on the world stage. This year is no exception as Putin's LGBT posturing extends the eugenics thrust of the olmpiad and the selection on Putin's summer resort as the host city reeks of the kind of blatant cronyism not seen since Salt Lake City.

Essentially, both Olympism and fascism are secular religions that venerate the human body and seek the triumph of the will. The Olympic motto of "citius, altius, fortius" ("faster, higher, stronger&quot is something that could have been dreamed up by Hitler or Mussolini. Indeed, throughout the 1920s and 1930s, celebrations of the Olympiads and fascist rallies grew increasingly indistinct. Both were quasi-religious experiences, complete with increasingly sophisticated rites and rituals, and adorned with striking iconography. Even their salutes looked the same. (Just check out the Paris 1924 poster.)

It could get worse. We could see the start of WWIII next week as the Tonya Hardings of 2014 seek their moment of fame.
