Some did the same thing with the theater texting shooting. Jumped on the texting and how he should have just stopped texting and how they hate people who text during the movies. The implication is they understand why the shooter did what he did and felt empathy with the shooter.

The second someone pulls out a gun and shoots someone dead in cold blood. The texting, loud music playing, whatever get off my lawn annoying behavior goings on happened before becomes completely and utterly irrelevant, and anyone who rambles on about it immediately looks like a blithering murder apologist whether they mean it that way or not.
