Last month Lecturers of the University of New Hampshire Durham and Manchester campuses voted to unionize (http://www.aaup.org/big-win-new-hampshire-lecturers). Awareness is rising and tenure/tenure-track faculty are also adding their voices. Low wage adjuncts bring faculty salaries down and threaten faculty positions. Departing faculty aren't replaced or are replaced with fewer people and very slowly which puts a greater burden on existing faculty.
