Rodriguez was transported to a local hospital and treated for minor injuries. He was booked for vehicular manslaughter. Rodriguez has been released on $100,000 bail.

Now as to your reply:

Tragedies get reported because they are just that - something out of the normal.

Drinking and driving is a problem in this country and keeping people aware of what can, and does, happen may end up giving folks something to think about next time they down a few.

No, I don't think we should ban houses, cars, drinking, or remove all parking lots at bars so that people can't go get a drink and then drive. Tragedies can bring awareness without the need to legislate and create new feel good laws.

I don't post half of what I come across on my twitter account (which is heavily skewed towards news and a few shows I like). I used to spend a lot of time in that part of California and have lost friends to car accidents (and other things like my friend who was robbed and shot to death - surely to some just another tragedy in the news that day).

Some stories just stand out to me as an individual and I post them. Hide them if you want, ignore them, etc. I am fine with that. But I will post what interests me so long as I am on here and a story like this sticks out to me as I have a daughter myself close to that age who doesn't live too far from that area (far enough though) and so, unlike some similar news stories, it caught my eye.
